Springwatch in my back yard
By Odd Billy
We live in the centre of a medium sized town, and only have a very small back garden, really a walled yard, mostly paved over, but with flower beds on each side. Nevertheless we have had plenty of wildlife visiting the garden. This spring I have noted dragonflies, butterflies, and plenty of bees (despite the warnings about declining bee population), blackbirds and doves, and larger mammals such as mice, squirrels and (less welcome) field rats. Even if your available space is very small, it is worthwhile planting some flowers and providing a habitat that will attract and benefit nature. |
